Monday's storm brings on the snow

Thanks to a big storm that ripped through British Columbia yesterday, more than 80 centimetres of snow dumped on Whistler Blackcomb, bringing the mountain's snow base to 108 centimetres or 43 inches.

The Environment Canada Alpine Forecast is calling for a small reprieve from the intense weather Tuesday and Wednesday before storms pummel the mountains again on Thursday and Friday with 20-40 centimetres forecasted.

Official opening day is November 22, but with the snowfall this week, an early opening is being considered. A decision will be made on November 14.

EDGE Cards are available at early bird pricing until November 19. They allow Canadians and Washington State residents to ski the mountains from $52.99 a day. A ten day EDGE Card is available on-line for $529.89, while the five-day EDGE Card is available for $279.99. Single day EDGE Cards are available on-line for $56.99.

Other perks when purchased by November 19 include: $300 in retail coupons, $100 Ski & Snowboard School Gift Certificate and a $99 lodging offer.

Season-long perks with an EDGE Card include: 10% off retail, 50% off Coca Cola Tube Park tickets and 25% off tickets at other Intrawest resort locations.
