The Christmas Extravaganza of the Old Montréal takes place every December. The month-long celebration includes more than 20 activities in an illuminated setting. It wraps up with an outdoor Grand Ball, exclusive to Old Montréal.
The Eastern Townships is home Mont Sutton, with 28-35cm of new snow in the past 24 hours; Mount Orford National Park for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or just winter walking; the Christmas Market on the Wine Route; the reopening of the Estrimont Suites & Spa in Orford in January, following a fire last spring; and the opening of a new restaurant in Sherbrooke by Chef Alain Labrie. He was the executive chef at Auberge Hatley until it burned down last year and it's appropriately named La Table du Chef.
Mont Tremblant has a Direct Ski Package from downtown Toronto to Tremblant International Airport. A one-night package includes flight, accommodations, two-day lift ticket, two breakfasts and two lunches and two days of equipment rental. Starting at $549 per person.
On New Year's Eve in Quebec City, the Place D'Youville will be the site of a kick-off celebration of this beloved city's 400th birthday party in 2008. Fireworks, visual effects, live music and more.
And my favorite, the Quebec Winter Carnival in Quebec City, takes place every February. It's the largest winter carnival in the world. I love Bonhomme!

Yes, I just wish we had more of a "winter" here in Washington (state). It's grey and damp and rainy -- but it will be green in the spring!
A year late, but thanks for linking to us at montreal.metblogs.com. I was going through older links and noticing your comment, searched for and found your travel blog. I'm impressed with how much travelling in Canada you have been able to do!
