Sue Frause is an American journalist. She's had a major crush on Canada ever since she visited British Columbia as a young girl. Even if your heart doesn't pitter patter over all things Canadian, read on. You'll find photos, travel tips, road notes and the latest news and thoughts about our friends north of the 49th parallel. Cool idea, eh?

Washington State Ferries resumed its sailings to Sidney, BC on April 1 after a 12-week winter hiatus.
To celebrate the annual reopening, the ferry system, City of Anacortes, Sidney, the Sidney Sister Cities Association and the Sidney Business Association hosted a day of celebration.
When traveling to Sidney, remember to bring your passport or birth certificate with photo identification.
Hell's Gate Airtram in British Columbia's scenic Fraser Canyon is scheduled to re-open for the season on April 5, 2007.
Although severe winter conditions wreaked havoc on the Fraser Canyon corridor, road crews have been working 24 hours a day to re-open the highway in time for the busy seasons aheada.
There will be plenty of water to see. Rising flood waters and warm temperatures in south central British Columbia will bump the volume of water through the 110-ft. wide gorge to more than 200 gallons per minute in May. That's twice the volume of Niagara Falls.
This past year there were also unofficial ghost sightings and other spooky testimonials at the Boston Bar attraction. Officials at Hell's Gate Airtram contacted the BCGHRS (British Columbia Ghost & Hauntings Research Society) who will conduct an overnight scientific study on March 30, 2007.

The ICE (In Case of Emergency) program has been around since 2005, but I just received an e-mail about this smart program.
It's all about having contact information in your cell phone so that in an emergency first responders can identify you and have quick and easy access to your friends and family.
Numbers are entered under ICE, but with a 1, 2 and 3 in front of them to keep them at the top of your contact list.
Example:
1ICE Bob 2ICE Max 3ICE Mom
Wikipedia has a good explanation of the program and Snopes has more information.
So before you hit the road, get your ICE in order!
