Last month, the editors at Frommer's Travel Guides and Frommers.com polled its authors, writers and experts and came up with a dozen "surprising, thriving, or emerging travel destinations." Included in the Pacific Northwest were British Columbia's Okanogan Valley and Portland, Oregon.
