One of my favorite independent bookstores, Barbara-Jo's Books to Cooks in Vancouver, is hosting Barbara-Jo's Second Annual Cookbook Awards. The staff selected ten titles as front runners in what was described as "a very heated contest." In alphabetical order, they are:

- Cioppino's Mediterranean Grill by Pino Posterraro
- The Flexiterian Table by Peter Berley
- Fresh by John Bishop/Dennis Green/Dawne Gourley
- Jamie at Home by Jamie Oliver
- Pure Dessert by Alice Medrich
- River Cottage Fish Book by Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall and Nick Fisher
- Vegetable Harvest by Patricia Wells
- Wild Garlic, Gooseberries and Me by Dennis Cotter
