Vancouver, BC: Top things to do in a few days

We have friends from Basel, Switzerland who will be visiting us this week en route to a conference in Beverly Hills.

Fortunately, they arrived at YVR with no ash interruption; their flight took them from Basel to Frankfurt and finally Vancouver. I suggested they spend a few nights there before driving south.

They found a good rate at the Loden Hotel, one of Vancouver's newer boutique hotels, and I phoned them on their arrival day. Coincidentally, they had just checked into their room late Friday afternoon, so I gave them a few ideas of how to spend two full days in my favorite west coast city.

You'll find other suggestions and details/links here.

~Rent bicycles at Spokes and wheel around Stanley Park
~Visit the Vancouver Aquarium
~Take SeaBus or False Creek Ferries to Granville Island for lunch
~Cocktails at Bacchus Lounge at The Wedgewood Hotel
~Yaletown shopping; dinner at Blue Water Cafe & Raw Bar
~Gastown and Chinatown
