Golden Globe nominees include Canadians James Cameron, Jason Reitman and Anna Paquin

Funny, but somehow I missed the fact that film director James Cameron is Canadian. Born on Aug. 16, 1954 in Kapuskasing, Ontario, he joins fellow Canadian Jason Reitman as two of the five nominees for the Golden Globe Awards' Best Director/Motion Picture category.

Cameron's film, Avatar, was nominated for four awards while Reitman's Up in the Air snagged six.

Another Canadian, Anna Paquin, was nominated in the Best TV Drama Actress category for her role in the HOB series True Blood. Paquin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba but moved to New Zealand when she was four.

The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010.

Good luck to all the nominees. The new movie Avatar looks interesting.
