Notwithstanding last month's sinking of an Antarctic cruise ship, climate tourism is heating up. And few places are warming up faster than the Northwest Passage, the Arctic sea route over Canada. Adventure Life Voyages, for one, is already booking cruises for its Northwest Passage tour next August, with prices from $4,600 a person.Out of the 53 destinations compiled by Denny Lee, I've been to a dozen. They include Puerto Vallarta, Prague, Liverpool, Munich, Tuscany, Oslo, San Francisco, San Diego, London, Las Vegas, Barossa Valley and New York City.
Like Quebec City, Liverpool is celebrating a big birthday next year. The City of The Beatles will be 800 years old.
OK, Quebec is a mere 400, but both cities are planning year-long celebrations and bringing out their country's biggest headliners for concerts. Sir Paul McCartney plays at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium on June 1, 2008 and Celine Dion will take part in a free concert special on the Plains of Abraham on August 22, 2008.
