Sue Frause is an American writer and photographer. She's had a major crush on Canada ever since she visited British Columbia as a young girl. Even if your heart doesn't pitter patter over all things Canadian, read on. You'll find photos, travel tips, road notes and the latest news and thoughts about our friends north of the 49th parallel. Cool idea, eh?

BC Bound: Trains/Planes/Ferries
I'm off to British Columbia today on a carefree, car free getaway. I'm on assignment for The (Daily) Herald, writing a travel feature about my carless trip north of the 49th Parallel.
I'll take Amtrak from Everett to Vancouver. Fly up to the Sunshine Coast. Take the bus/ferry to Victoria. Ride VIA Rail Canada to Courtenay and back. Fly home to Seattle's Lake Union via Kenmore Air.
Along the way, I'll do some kayaking, dining, shopping and spa-ing and stay in some lovely hotels.
Daily updates from the road!
