Hotel de Glace (Ice Hotel) relocates closer to Quebec City

My husband and I enjoyed iced vodka at Hotel de Glace in February 2004

Quebec's Hotel de Glace (Ice Hotel) is on the move. When my husband and I spent the night there in 2004, I recall it being about an hour outside of Quebec City.

The 2011 edition will be built much closer to the capital city of Quebec. Located on a natural park just ten minutes outside of town, it will be more accessible to bus routes and closer to surrounding hotels and winter activities. The owners are hoping the new locale will increase the number of visitors.

The Hotel de Glace's creators will begin work on the new site in December. The hotel will be redesigned, and includes a luxurious reception house and a pavilion appropriately named Celsius, for dining and relaxing. The pavilions will be heated, making for a more comfortable experience.

Hotel de Glace is open Jan. 7 - March 27, 2011.
