Rick Steves discusses 'Travel as a Political Act' in Vancouver



Rick Steves, popular European guidebook author and travel show host on both public television and public radio, will be discussing one of his books on Jan. 27, 2011 in Vancouver, BC.

Travel as a Political Act is Rick's latest book, revealing how his love and life of travel has shaped his personal view of the world -- and his politics. It's also a guide about how thoughtful travel "can broaden every person's perspectives, challenge outdated assumptions and create a force for peace in the world."

During the 90-minute discussion, Rick will explain why thoughtful travel can expand a person's world view and how social activism has evolved naturally from his travel adventures.

I like the idea of this book. Travel really does help in expanding a person's understanding of different places and cultures aside from his own. Traveling will help bring down the cultural barriers that we have with other nations, which will result in a more unified and peaceful world.
