Whistler Blackcomb opens six days early on Nov. 19, 2010
Good news for ski and snowboard enthusiasts. Whistler Mountain is opening six days early this year. On Friday, Nov. 19, five lifts including Creekside Express will be in operation. Blackcomb Mountain will open on American Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 25), which is Whistler Blackcomb’s official opening day.
With freezing levels lowering to Whistler Village, snow in the forecast and more than 180 snow guns operating, it looks to be a good season.
Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Manager Doug MacFarlane reminds snow enthusiasts that "early season conditions" will be in effect, and with the large crowds expected opening weekend, guests need to pay attention to the mountain signage (and obey the Temporary Boundary signs). Also watch for rocks and other hazards below the snow's surface.
Whistler Mountain opens on Friday, November 19 at 8:30 AM with access from the Creekside and the Whistler Village gondolas. Skiing and riding will be available from Emerald Express, Big Red Express and Franz Chair. Detailed information regarding terrain and services available opening weekend will be announced Thursday, November 18. Check whistlerblackcomb.com/whatsopen for current information.
For Canadian and Washington State residents: Whistler Blackcomb offers the EDGE Card, allowing guests to ski/ride from $60 (CDN) a day. EDGE Cards also offer such perks as 20% off retail/rental products and $35 (CDN) off snow school lessons. EDGE Cards are valid for use all season long, and available at early bird pricing until Nov. 21, 2010 at whistlerblackcomb.com/save.
Beginning Nov. 16, the Snow Report will be updated daily and may be listened to online or by calling 604.932.4211 in Whistler; 604.687.7507 in Vancouver or toll-free at 800.766.0449.

The slopes were packed with not only people, but powder this weekend! I'm hitting up a few hours again today and the mountain is already filled with people. Good job on the early open I say!
