Canada is everywhere you go, even in Volcano (Hawaii)

Several years ago, while visiting Bali with my husband, there in the village of Ubud was a Canadian connection. You Canadians are everywhere!

This time, it was on the Big Island of Hawaii. While celebrating my 60th birthday at the Kilauea Lodge in Volcano, a small village located a few miles from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, I spied another Canadian connection. The lodge where were were dining was originally built in 1938 for the YMCA, and housed many a youngster who was exploring Hawaii's Volcano country.

We were seated for dinner by the restaurant's International Fireplace of Friendship, which is imbedded with Rotary plaques and other memorabilia from around the world. One was from the Rotary Club Truo, Nova Scotia. I remember passing through Truro on my Great Big Canadian Train Adventure in 2009.
